Why Only U.S. Cases?

Some readers have been writing to ask why TSA only features cases from U.S. courts.

While I’m sure that there are cases of lawsuit abuse — or apparent abuse — in other countries, this is an American publication written by an American author. I’m a reasonably knowledgeable lay person (not a lawyer) who has something to say about the problems I see in our court system.

To fairly discuss the legal systems in other countries would require knowledge about the legal system in each country. Obviously very few people have that kind of specialized multi-national knowledge and experience (and the ones who do make a lot more money!)

Concentrating on U.S. cases has been my plan all along. I do know from my mail, however, that readers in other countries find the cases most interesting and entertaining, and have provided examples of similar cases in their country.

No matter where you live, I appreciate your taking the time to read the True Stella Awards, since it reflects the human condition more than the “American condition” (if you will).

My Flagship Email Publication This is True continues to come out with new stories every week. It’s “Thought-Provoking Entertainment” like Stella, but uses weird-but-true news items as its vehicle for social commentary. It is the oldest entertainment newsletter online — weekly since 1994.
